Air Vancouver [Apr. 29th, 2004|01:29 pm]
[Current Mood | drained]
[Current Music |Ambulance, LTD.]

Yesterday Andy and I drove up to Canada to see Air (they're a french band if you are unfamiliar). We had a great time on the drive up. It was sunny and just overall great roadtrip season. They grilled us at the border and we both whipped out our proof of US citizenship, passports and birth certificates. I missed a phone call on my cell phone, and the lady didn't smile once, with all our friendlyness and trying-to-act-normalness. Eventually she had us pull over into the immigration station talk to a guy to do a criminal background check on us.

So we finally make it into Vancouver, we go get some gelato at "Casa Gelato" (Great great place), they have 208+ flavors including ones like stoli raspberry vodka, tiger butter, garlic, avocado, licorice, frangelico w/ chocolate shavings, and dragonfruit. I went for the Tiger butter and frangelico w/ chocolate, and Andy got white chocolate raspeberry, and espresso w/ chocolate shavings.

So things are good we're eatin' our gelato, we finally find a place to park downtown, we decide to go check out where the venue is before we peruse the town at our leisure, and slappity slap slap! The show is cancelled!

What else to do but, eat crepes, wander down by the waterfront, get some weekly publications and see what bands are playing locally, walk a mile to a very seedy part of town to take in three bands, take some pictures, buy their EP for 5 canuck dollars, drink some canadian beer, eat some 2am pizza slices on our walk back, get in the car, and get back home at 5am to crash as the sun begins to rise in good ol Seattle.

I had to get some sleep. After all I have to make sure I'd be awake for the Air show at the Paramount tonight :)

For all you story lovers out there, I just recently discovered a small city government service. Our country may be at war, but over here in our safe haven we can still dial-a-story to cheer up our day.

This months story: "The Terrible Eek"

9 to 5 [Apr. 8th, 2004|10:40 pm]
[Current Mood | bouncy]
[Current Music |Lemon Jelly - Nice Weather for Ducks]

In case you don't know I've been working as a part time freelance graphic designer at Windermere Real Estate HQ since February.

I've been working part-time for about 20 hours a week, working on other freelance projects, and 4 days at a cafe, all in the Sandpoint area. Yesterday, my boss at Windermere asked if I would be open to working full time for them since I've been able to help their marketing dept. with some techie stuff, and spanish translations for stuff, etc... So im gonna quit the cafe and work full time as a rat race boy.

Anyway, so of course I'm excited to have a normal 9 to 5, weekends off, decent paying, doing what i wanna do sorta job. I think above all it's nice to feel valued at a job, and even though i am the newest of 4 total graphic designers there, I already have my own little projects im reponsible for. It's so weird too because all the work i have right now at windermere, and other projects have been unsolicited. I haven't once gone out looking for work.

Ahh it's just kinda nice right now.

opening day at safeco...

OPENING DAY AT SAFECO!?

WOooooohoooo!

I've known that i was going to this game for a while now, but only today do i finally feel excited. Sort of unexpected. I think i need a nice relaxing day at the ballpark. And it's a day game, 2:05 start time, hmmmm. Warm sun and a gentle breeze over the left field wall wafts over the scent of garlic fries, or seven dollar hot dogs, whatever it is i must have it! and of course as i wait in line i watch the tv screen to watch the game while im away from my prized green plastic seat. Just the usual balls and strikes until its time for me to order and then OF COURSE... a big hit! a diving catch! a bench clearing brawl! Edgar hits for the cycle! Bob Melvin walks over and poops on Lou Pinella! You gotta love these guys! Mariner commercials! Rah rah ree kick 'em in the knee! Rah rah ruts kick 'em in the ...other knee!

Baseball is here! I love it. I can already hear the train rocking and rolling by with toots a plenty.
